HAPPY GROUNDHOG/SUPER BOWL/BIRTHDAY
Well of course he saw his shadow. Doesn't he always? And even when we're told he doesn't, Spring is always at least 6 weeks away, sometimes more. But I guess we have to continue these rites, these meaningless ceremonies, to give grown men a chance to don top hats and overcoats and pet a groundhog. Ugh. I think think of better things to pet.
Well now that I've gotten that out of my system, speaking of another meaningless ceremony, it's Super Bowl Sunday!
Now there are Kitten Bowls, Puppy Bowls and then there was the year I had a Toilet Bowl, when the kitty litter box was accidently dropped in the "you know where." Don't ask. I saw a family from Seattle with two little kids being interviewed on TV last night. They were super excited to be standing in Times Square and were gearing up for the big day. The father said he figured the trip was costing him about $10,000. I sure hope his team wins. At that price, they'd better.
I really don't mean to sound like such a cynic (yes I do). I guess I'm just worn out from lack of sleep, worrying about my friends who are going through very tough times, and trying to remain optimistic about the future. Right now it doesn't look too bright, but I'll work on it.
In the meantime my friends, enjoy this Super Sunday Groundhog and Birthday (two nephews and a step grandson). Hope you all have a wonderful day filled with lots of good football, good food and birthday cake (if you are Liam, Rob or James). And I will try to get a nap, eat some chicken broth, get ready for Downton Abbey, and get ready for tomorrow's snow storm.
