                 IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME

I haven't been  writing lately.  Guess my muse is taking a rest. Also I haven't been very strict with my diet.  I have to admit I am weak when it comes to resisting certain things, like FOOD!

I have still maintained the 15 pound weight loss and on Friday I will see my G.P. and find out how my blood sugar, cholesterol and b.p. are.  I am hoping for good news.

Lately everything I try to cook ends up in the garbage can.  This includes stuff in the Nutribullet.  I do not know what the problem is.  I either burn everything or use things past their  expiration date.  I feel like I might as well just bring the groceries home and march them straight out to the trash.
I think I need a vacation.

Last week my friend Quince was here and we had a great, albeit much too brief, visit.  I see him once a year, if I'm lucky.  Last year he didn't come East since he was having surgery.  It hardly seemed possible that it had been two years since he'd been here.  Then before I know it, he's gone and it's almost like he wasn't here at all.  He and his partner, Blake have bought a place they call Turkey Trot in the  gold country about 2 and 1/2 hours north of S.F.  They call it Turkey Trot because there are lots of wild turkeys nesting there.  I told him, forget me visiting any place with huge birds flapping around.  Actually he's known me long enough to know that I am not fond (and that's putting it mildly) of any kind of feathered beasts.

He was trying to talk Tom and I into driving out in September.  I'm not real sure about that.  We have trouble in the car just going to Maryland.  I can't imagine driving to CA!

We might try a trip to New England in October.  I'm not too sure about that either, but I'd love to see Monica and my friend Dick Dauphinee and of course the foliage would be beautiful that time of year.  I think we'll wait and see how I make out with my P.E.T. scan in July to make any decisions about any trips.

Okay, now it can be told.  My blood sugar is just about where it should be and if it continues (that is if I continue behaving myself) I'll be off the Metformin.  Blood Pressure is good w/o medication and the cholesterol is also good with the statin drug.  Maybe in three months we'll see about stopping that.
Now all I have to do is keep going to the pool and stay away from other temptations like ice cream, etc.  And before you know it, I'll be in great shape!  Well, except for the bum knee that prevents me from walking and the arthritis in my back that prevents me from standing too long.  Ah well, we can't have everything - can we??

Have I mentioned that I love, love love summertime.  Even when it gets hot and humid, I love being able to go outside without putting on layers of clothing, being able to sit on my wonderful screened in porch and looking out into the woods and watching the birds and the chipmunks scurry around.  Boy, it doesn't take much to entertain me.  Oh and then there's Tom, who keeps me going in one way or another.
