JUST CALL ME HOT LIPS
Since Saturday my mouth has been on fire. My tongue, cheeks, lips - all of it. Feels like I've been sucking on hot peppers constantly. Nothing I tried helped. Saturday night I filled a baggie with ice cubes and stuffed that in my mouth. That helped until I took the bag out and then it started all over again.
Sunday it was a little better, but I still had a bitter taste in my mouth and smiling was a real pain. You know that saying, "if she smiled her face would crack" 0r something like that. My lips felt like they were swollen and dry and chapped. I was not smiling much.
Today I finally called the dentist. I figured I had to start somewhere. I made a list of all my medications and supplements, wrote down my symptoms and was never so happy to see a dental office. I mean, I have been miserable. The burning mouth coupled with not being able to sleep since last week made for a lot of unpleasant days.
So the dentist said usually this condition is due to medications. Since the only new thing I've been on for the past month is a liquid supplement, he's not sure what's going on but he examined me, said everything looked okay and gave me a prescription for "Magic Rinse" which is a combination of novacaine, benedryl and maylox. I'm supposed to swish it around my mouth three times a day and go back to see him in a week. Well, it does temporarily numb my mouth, but it wears off pretty quickly.
Meanwhile back on the diet front, I'm not eating much of anything because who wants to eat when they feel like they could cook the food in their mouth. I mean I probably wouldn't have to boil water for tea. I could just swish the tea bag around in my mouth. Okay, now I'm being silly. You'd be silly too if you hadn't slept more than a few hours for the past week.
I'd write more but I have to go swish now.
